Empowering Farmers with Seed Mapping and Seed Treatment Innovations

Identifying the variety of native seeds in a specific area, known as "seed mapping," is accomplished using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. This involves intensive engagement with community members, especially the elders, to determine the region's current biodiversity. Through open discussions, the community's collective knowledge of native seeds in the area is recorded. This method provides a clear picture of biodiversity loss. By gathering and distributing the community's seed varieties to farmers for further use and reproduction, the region's biodiversity is enhanced. Additionally, native crop varieties that may have vanished are reintroduced from other areas. Incorporating innovative seed treatment techniques ensures the preservation and improvement of these seeds, fostering a more resilient agricultural ecosystem. https://greenfoundation.in/seed-mapping
