Community welcomes new defibrillator at Chester-le-Street SPAR store A defibrillator has been installed at SPAR Mendip Avenue in Chester-le-Street supporting a Durham County Council initiative. Local councillors are in the process of seeking easy-to-access locations for five new defibrillators in the Chester-le-Street South ward. For two decades, SPAR Mendip Avenue has been a valued asset to customers who use the store for essential shopping. By becoming the fourth location for a defibrillator installation as part of that drive, SPAR Mendip Avenue has become even more of a lifeline, and local councillors have welcomed its placement on the exterior wall. Fiona Drummond, Company Stores Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd, owner of SPAR Mendip Avenue, said, “We know how valued SPAR Mendip Avenue is by our customers and the defibrillator installation is an important development for the community by improving access to lifesaving equipment.
